It's hard to believe looking at her pictures that not long ago this same dog was a desperate stray- starving, terrified, and about to die.

Ashley was first seen wandering the streets in 110 degree temperatures during a Southern California heat wave. We contacted neighbors but no one claimed her, no one wanted her, no one was willing to help. So we took her in, of course!

Once she was out of the 'survival mode' and let her defenses down, she collapsed. She was exhausted, dehydrated and wouldn't eat. We took her immediately to the emergency hospital where the vet told us gravely, "She's not friendly, she's just a stray and she has Parvo. The treatment could be $1600 or more and she might not survive. Should we put her down?" Well you can guess our response since you're visiting her site.

Ashley was immediately hospitalized and given the standard treatment plus a battery of tests. Surprisingly, her results were all good. Two days later came a call to pick her up! Not only did she survive her serious illness, she was beginning to thrive! (The hospital bill was only $480 instead of the $1600 projected.)

All of a sudden we had a famished pup on our hands who'd eat anything! But more important than that, she was literally starving for LOVE.

From here, Ashley's blossoming "tail" begins.

Ashley was kept isolated one month while she shed the virus. The vet says she is no longer contagious, she is *not* a carrier and she will never get the disease again.

An unsuccessful search was made for the owners. We would LOVE to keep this angel but if we kept every animal we've saved, we'd need a batallion of aides and acres of land. So the seach begins.

Ashley was born approximately May, 2007.

We are not looking for any old home. We are looking for a 'Dream Home' for Ashley with a special family that has lots of love and time for her, both day and night. In the meantime, she has a safe place to stay until her lifetime home is found.

Ashley is one of the most lovable, remarkable dogs we have ever met! She is funny and playful and happy all the time. She deeply appreciates what she is given. She also is sensitive and uniquely adapts to the situation she is in. She plays well with other dogs and lays down for small ones. She loves kids
and is especially gentle with them. She is HOUSEBROKEN.  And by the way, in case you didn't notice, Ashley is beautiful! She has the cutest puppy face and a gorgeous coat of honey-colored hair. In certain light it looks like spun gold. It is wonderously soft and fluffy, and she doesn't seem to shed!

Ashley now has all her shots, was dewormed and will soon be spayed and microchipped.
